Ambulance Services

The community-based ambulance services was officially launched in year 2020, aiming to provide non-emergency ambulance services to better serve the greater Kuching communities and beyond.

Kuching District is a fast-growing metropolitan city with its vast expansion of residential and commercial centres in the immediate suburbs, the needs of effective and efficient ambulance service become greater from multiple emergency response agencies for good coverage.  Such service would require fast and timely response and professional pre-hospital care to be rendered for those in medical emergencies.  The application of life saving skills and right resources increase the survival rate of the victims.  MRCS as a humanitarian organization and an auxiliary to the public authorities in the humanitarian field is thus well position with these competencies to operate this service.

DISASTER MANAGEMENT

MRCS Sarawak and its Branches continued to remain vigilant for any emergencies and crisis situations across the state by providing training and maintaining teams of disaster responders despite the controlled movement in the community.

MRCS Sarawak Chapter maintains close contact with the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee and the Resident Office and attended regular meetings of the State & Divisional disaster committees.

The moment MRCS Sarawak Chapter and Branches received the news, they responded to the incidents immediately. In order to help the victims to go through the difficult times temporarily, aids like hygiene kits, food packs, and old clothingsclothes were distributed to the victims.

VOLUNTEERS ON WHEEL

The Volunteers on Wheels (VoW) programme is an initiative from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) in order to for us to have a wider outreach to the community.

Contributed by the Red Cross Society of China, MRC Sarawak received 30 bicycles to be used across Sarawak.

In collaboration with the Kuching South City Council (MBKS), the VoW program will commence every Saturday and Sunday , 4pm to 6pm around MBKS Building. You will see our volunteers patrolling the surrounding with the bicycles, providing first aid assistance, and calling an ambulance if needed.

Special thanks to Datuk Wee Hong Seng, Mayor of MBKS for having us as their partner.

If you happen to meet our Volunteers on Wheels, please say “Hi” to them with a big smile.
