Every 3rd Sunday of October marks the MRC Sarawak Tree Planting Day 2022.
This year, in collaboration with Kuching South City Council (MBKS), we have planted 20 trees – Flame of Forest (Delonix Regia) & Mersawa Paya (Anisoptera Marginata) at an empty land provided by MBKS.
The MRC Sarawak Tree Planting Day 2022 was officially launched by Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri George Chan, Chairperson, MRC Sarawak and Datuk Wee Hong Seng, Mayor, MBKS. Together at the launch were committee members, staff and Hotspot 999 crew members from MRC Sarawak as well as councilors and staff from MBKS.
The theme for 2022 is – 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐚 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐞, 𝐒𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞. Our campaign on tree planting is significant and cannot be underscore. The amazement of the effect of tree is astonishing – that a single tree will absorb one ton of carbon dioxide over its lifetime. Whenever we step outside our home, we won’t be far from a tree. We are always surrounded by a huge variety of different types of them. While they’re all pretty and wonderful to look at, their importance stems far beyond beauty. The value and purpose of trees is enormous; and their existence is therefore vital for the survival of humanity.
